Toyota Grand Slam Road Trip (RECAP)

Baseball season is in full swing and there’s no better way to lead off the season by seeing your favorite team in action during spring training. Toyota gave us an opportunity to do just that by inviting us to the Toyota Grand Slam Weekend in Arizona. This was the last weekend of spring training before the regular season begins. So we packed up our bags and loaded up the brand new 2019 Toyota Sequoia Platinum. The new Sequoia features a 381 horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine, spacious interior that seats eight and a multi-mode 4 wheel drive system, which made the six-hour drive from Los Angeles to Scottsdale comfortable and smooth. Our first stop on the Toyota Grand Slam weekend was Tempe Diablo Stadium, spring training home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Saturday’s matchup featured the Angels and the Chicago White Sox. It didn’t take the Angels too long get on the board as the newly signed $430 million dollar man Mike Trout hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give the Angels the lead and they would never give it back as the Angels won the game 9-8. The next day, we loaded up the Sequoia and took a trip 45 minutes north of Scottsdale to Glendale to visit Camelback Ranch, the spring training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox. This was the final spring training game in Arizona for both teams before the season starts. The White Sox started the game hot, scoring three runs in the first and they would eventually win the game 5-1. The weekend ended with the six-hour drive back to Los Angeles but it wasn’t something to dread because of how smoothly the Toyota Sequoia runs.
