In times during a pandemic I have seen many people come together to serve their communities in different ways. It’s always inspiring to see people shift their focus and use their resources to find other ways to help out. MULCH is an independent fashion brand from San Clemente, California that focuses on quality and sustainability. As a socially and environmentally responsible brand, MULCH wants to help flatten the curve and assist partners throughout the unpredictable times. As a custom cut and sew business, Mulch has been able to stabilize, pivot and adjust their local supply chain into making masks. By supplying double layered cotton reusable face masks, the goal is to save the medical grade masks for the front lines working diligently during the COVID-19 crisis.
Recently, Mulch teamed up with professional tennis phenom Reilly Opelka to donate 500 masks to the city of Palm Coast. As a Palm Coast resident, Reilly wanted to creatively thank and support the local community and its essential workers amid the COVID-19 crisis.
“For me, it’s just a small way to thank the essential workers and medical staff that have been keeping Palm Coast up and running during these difficult times. Palm Coast has always been extremely supportive of me and so has MULCH. It was the perfect opportunity to support one another and give back to the community and City of Palm Coast.” – Reilly Opelka.
“As soon as Reilly reached out, we were on board. He helped us reach people in Florida that otherwise we could never and it was imperative to collaborate and support his local community during these difficult times. We agreed upon creating and donating ‘better than nothing’ masks to the city of Palm Coast with essential workers’ safety top of mind. We were able to create 500 masks in a 72 hour timespan and they have been donated to the city of Palm Coast to be shared amongst essential businesses and its workers in the community.” – Phil Zariff, co-founder of MULCH
