This past Labor Day weekend, we had the opportunity to spend a few days in Philadelphia for the Budweiser – Made in America Music Festival. Sponsored by Tidal, the lineup was personally curated by Jay Z himself, 2016 featured headliners Rihanna, Coldplay, Chance the Rapper, Jamie xx, ColleGrove (2 Chainz & Lil Wayne) to name a few. Beginning in 2012, the festival finished its 5th year in the City of Brotherly Love with a brief stint in Los Angeles in 2014.
With five different stages scattered throughout Benjamin Franklin Parkway, festival goers had the chance to discover and experience a wide spectrum of music within the 2-day affair. The Tidal Stage, for example was dedicated to fairly new artists such as Lil Yachty, Kacy Hill, Kevin Garrett and Desiigner; helping to drive the new generation of musicians forward in a big way.
While this festival may not be as big as Coachella or Lollapalooza, the Made in America music festival definitely creates a blissful environment filled with great vibes. To be fair, much of it was owed to the all star lineup of artists that graced the stage:
Bryson Tiller had us intoxicated (literally and figuratively), leading us to believe we’ve been neglecting our women; A$AP Ferg and Travi$ Scott (sorry, No Ty Dolla $ign) made us lose our minds trappin’ in the mosh pit; Chance the Rapper delivering the gospel; Coldplay taking us on a journey through a world of color, and Rihanna being, well…Rihanna!
