TILLYS 16th Annual Golf Tournament Raises Nearly $250,000

With an emphasis on mental health, TLC’s Mission is to inspire today’s youth to reach their full potential as productive, kind, happy, and responsible individuals.

TILLYS hosted its 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, SUPERHERO SCRAMBLE, at Mission Viejo Country Club on April 24. The annual event had more sponsors than ever before to support its beneficiary, Tilly’s Life Center (TLC). Brands and athletes in the action sports industry and beyond gathered to golf while raising nearly $250,000. TLC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by TILLYS co-founder, Tilly Levine. With an emphasis on mental health, TLC’s Mission is to inspire today’s youth to reach their full potential as productive, kind, happy, and responsible individuals.

“The energy at the golf tournament this year was unmatched,” said co-founder of TILLYS and Tilly’s Life Center founder, Tilly Levine. “For 16 years, industry leaders, the community and our generous sponsors have rallied together to support our TLC teens so that they can live a happy, fulfilled, and positive life. None of this would be possible without them and we are so grateful to make a difference in the lives of thousands of teens each year.”

Celebrities like Real Housewives of OC’s Gina Kirschenheiter attended this year’s tournament. Industry executives, sponsors, and brands dusked off their masks and hit the greens for the heroic cause of helping teens. The SUPERHERO SCRAMBLE 18-hole tournament began with a shotgun start with contests and giveaways along the way, including closest-to-the-pin, longest drive, and two hole-in-one contests to win a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee lease or a private jet and tickets for four to the Stars and Stripes Cabo San Lucas fundraiser in June.

Taking home the prize for closest-to-the-pin at holes 3, 6, 13, and 16 to win a North Face duffle bag pack with beach towel and Reef sandals was Gina Pauley, Cordell Miller, Gary Hesp, and Jeff Daly. The longest drive prize was awarded to Angela Thomas and Cody Gascoigne. The winner of the putting contest was Vince Bartolotta who won a foursome at Mission Viejo Country Club. At hole 18, Gary Hesp and Kim Striegl took home a $250 Volcom shopping credit for winning the straightest drive contest. The SUPERHERO SCRAMBLE winning foursome went to Emory Park (Max Choi, Roy Moon, Ted Watson, Caleb Walker) followed by second place foursome, Sandy Par (Brian Jones, Pauly Alliotti, Rob Esquivel, Justin Boatright).

The event included hole activations from brands like Direct Edge, Elephant Cooperation, Ethika, Freespeed Aviation, JStar, Liquid Graphics, Oakley, Roxy/Quicksilver, Stance, and Volcom. Golfers enjoyed food and drink sponsors along the way, including Wahoo’s, Zebra House Coffee, LAVA Craft Cocktails Co., Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, Sammy’s Beach Bar Cocktail Co., San Diego Distillery, Good Bev. Co., Surf City Stillworks, Full Bore, Board & Brew, Grey Coast Irish Whiskey, Chronic Tacos, Califino Tequila, Stillwater, Sunsets Capo Beach, Tap Truck OC, 805 Beer, Santo Tequila, Fat Tire, Dang Brother Pizza, and Archie’s Ice Cream.

Following the event, attendees enjoyed a theme-based cocktail party and awards ceremony, with food and drinks provided by Starfish Laguna Beach and Tap Truck OC on the driving range. 18-year-old Cathereine Asaad, TLC program graduate from Valley Vista High School, took the stage at the cocktail party to share what TLC means to her. Cathereine shared an emotional story of her past and gaining support, positivity, and resources attributable to her experience going through the TLC program.

“Forgiving is one hard lesson, but to be forgiving means you can let go of what has hurt you,” shared Cathereine Asaad.
