Last night, adidas Originals celebrated the finale of the NMD_LA experience – a week long city takeover led by three Los Angeles ambassadors highlighting their favorites spots and hidden gems around the city. The NMD_LA experience tapped Los Angeles Lakers forward Nick Young, renowned photographer Atiba Jefferson and innovative chef Roy Choi to guide the week long takeover which sparked a movement around the recently launched NMD silhouette, delivering hundreds of fans on a daily basis driven to score a limited edition NMD_LA Experience kit featuring a pair of the sold-out shoes. The program came to a close last night with a private concert headlined by Grammy nominated artist Miguel and featured DJ sets by Kilo Kush and Shlohmo.
The finale event was housed in an unmarked warehouse in the Chinatown neighborhood of Downtown, Los Angeles – pushing many fans to venture out of familiar territory and explore the city. During the event, guests viewed wall size maps of the Los Angeles exploration tour mapped out by the three ambassadors and were encouraged to social share images from the event which was outfitted in an industrial aesthetic. Capping off the night, recording artist Miguel performed a melody of his hits captivating the adidas Originals stage for over 45 minutes.
The NMD city takeover is a U.S. program tied back to the global launch of the NMD silhouette – a new silo designed with exploration in mind for the commuter constantly on-the-go. The NMD recently launched on March 17 in the U.S. and sold out within an hour, making the NMD one of the most successful new franchises from adidas Originals to date. The NMD_R1 in all-white and all-black colorways is receiving a limited drop on this Saturday, March 26 available at select retailers and adidas.com/Originals. The NMD_R1 is available for $120.
