Secret Walls At Angel City FC’s Inaugural Game

A 90-minute two-versus-two freestyle live art entertainment battle.

Secret Walls, the Los Angeles-based creative collective best known for bringing high-energy illustration battle events with big-name artists and up-and-coming talent, helped kick off NWSL Angel City Football Club’s first regular-season home game on Friday, April 29, 2022, against North Carolina Courage at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles, CA.

Taking the main stage in the pregame FanFest located outside Banc of California at Christmas Tree Lane, Secret Walls brought a predominantly-female roster for a 90-minute two-versus-two freestyle live art entertainment battle. Attendees of the pregame FanFest watched artists showcase their talents by creating impromptu, black and white murals inspired by Angel City Football Club’s home jersey, Dawn, and away jersey, Daylight. Angel City FC donated $1,500 to All People’s Community Center in the winning team’s name and $1,000 to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in the other team’s name. This event was hosted by up-and-coming comedian, Concrete, with live music by DJ Jadaboo.

Participating artists in the Angel City FC Secret Walls battle included:

Team 1 & WINNERS: SUPERWAXX, a Los Angeles-based artist whose work combines the aesthetic influence of animation, street art, and fine art; and Christina Angelina, also known as “Starfighter,” a Los Angeles-based visual artist, photographer, and gallerist, internationally renowned for public art and large-scale figurative murals.

Team 2: Sophia Chang, a gifted multimedia storyteller with the ability to create lucid and inspirited imagery; and Tetris Wai, a Los Angeles-based graffiti artist, and graphic designer best known for the graffitied “Dodger House” in East LA and “Laker House” in South LA in preparation for each team’s championship titles.
